Management of Rare Hemorrhage From Collateral Vessels During Gastrostomy Replacement Using Percutaneous Transhepatic Occlusion in Patient With Portal Hypertension

چکیده

A 51-year-old male patient with alcoholic cirrhosis visited our hospital for a scheduled gastrostomy replacement. During the replacement, he suddenly experienced massive hemorrhage from fistula site. Based on enhanced computed tomography findings, we concluded that collateral blood vessels left gastroepiploic vein had flowed into varices near as main origin of bleeding. The received treatment percutaneous transhepatic occlusion varices, which halted flow to varices. This case suggests possibility such complication in patients worsening portal hypertension and effectiveness treatment.

Transhepatic percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy

We describe the case of a hepatic injury after the insertion of a PEG. In a cirrhotic woman affected by a locally advanced cancer of the pharynx, the PEG tube was inserted through the edge of the left lobe of the liver. The patient was treated with a conservative approach by managing abdominal pain and the PEG was removed after 4 months without complication. Hepatic injury is a rare complicatio...

OBJECTIVE To investigate the safety and efficacy of percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy/jejunostomy (PEG/PEJ) combined with percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTCD) in treating malignant biliary obstruction. SUBJECTS AND METHODS Nine patients (6 males and 3 females, average age 71.3 ± 5.5 years) with complete obstruction of the biliary tract were treated with PEG/PEJ after PTCD. The ...

Ballotini occlusion of retinal arteries. Collateral vessels.

IN a recent communication (Ashton and Henkind, 1965), the details of a method for embolizing retinal arteries in experimental animals were described, and a brief survey of the findings was provided. A most striking effect of arterial occlusion was the subsequent appearance of collateral vascular channels; these were predominantly arteriolar in nature, but in several instances anastomoses betwee...

Bilateral Internal Carotid Artery Occlusion as a Cause of Intraventricular Hemorrhage due to Pial Collateral Vessels.

In patients with high-grade atherosclerotic stenosis or occlusion of the extracranial cerebral arteries, subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) may occur, potentially due to rupture of fragile dilated pial collateral vessels. This association has been well described in Moyamoya disease. There are only few cases in the literature that reported SAH due to bilateral carotid artery stenosis but intraventric...

After two episodes of upper gastrointestinal bleeding, percutaneous transhepatic occlusion of varices and of the left gastric vein was carried out. During the next year there was no evidence of further haemorrhage.
